The UK’s EV market has reached significant milestones, with the registration of the two millionth battery electric vehicle (BEV) in April 20261, marking approximately 5% of the UK car parc. A month later, BEVs captured a record monthly market share of new vehicles at 27.3%2, highlighting the accelerating adoption of EVs.
Introducing EVLine: A response to EV growth
Comline’s Business Line team has been diligently expanding its product offerings to include EV and hybrid references, meticulously analysing VIO data. With over 3,700 part numbers currently available, and new additions monthly, Comline is committed to supporting the independent aftermarket in servicing the increasing number of EVs.
The EVLine brake pads are R90-approved and are engineered to deliver low-noise operation and consistent stopping performance. An additional scorching process after curing stabilises friction characteristics at higher temperatures, ensuring reduced brake noise and reliable performance throughout the pad’s service life. Also, Comline’s distinctive blue livery appears on the CEM115 friction material.
Why EVLine is needed
Although regenerative braking handles the majority of deceleration in EVs, the brake pedal remains an essential part of driving. Brakes are still required for emergency stops, driving in extreme weather and when regenerative braking is limited, such as when the battery is at a high state of charge.
However, because friction brakes are used less frequently, brake pads and discs can be exposed to rust, debris and corrosion during prolonged periods of inactivity, increasing the likelihood that they will eventually require replacement.
How many part numbers are in stock?
Currently, 69 Comline EVLine references are in stock, with more in development. Recent additions include part numbers for the Fiat Ducato (2020-2023), Ford Tourneo Custom (2024-onwards) and Transit Custom (2024-onwards), Maxus Edeliver (2020-onwards), and Mazda MX-30 (2020-onwards).
