Automechanika 2023 ‘Best Year Ever’

“Really busy with great quality visitors, a buzzing atmosphere and very well organised,” was the snap verdict of Kalimex, exhibitors at this year’s Automechanika three-day event which was held at the NEC in Birmingham.

It marks the 2nd time that Kalimex have exhibited at this event with the aim of promoting the JLM Lubricants’ range of products whilst also reminding visitors of their global bestseller K-Seal Coolant Leak Repair.

Commenting further on the event, Mike Schlup Kalimex MD said: “This year we had the real bonus of DPF Doctor Network Member Barry Lawson on our stand with extra support from Jeroen Schutz, the international sales manager for JLM Lubricants. This meant that when the stand was very busy which was pretty much all the time, there was always a friendly face representing Kalimex, so no one was overlooked. Barry was also a speaker at the event over the three days and this drove significant traffic to our stand – technicians with a genuine interest in JLM Lubricants. Barry is a real JLM fan and uses many JLM products in his workshop. Every day he had a full house which was fantastic.”

This year Kalimex sported a new look stand with bespoke panels telling the JLM brand story. “Every person that came to our stand knew about JLM Lubricants which is a far cry from when we started out at Automechanika pre pandemic,” said Colin Benzie from Kalimex. “In the early years we were having to explain what the brand was all about. This year we were getting into deep and meaningful conversations from the moment the doors opened. For example, discussing the products a potential stockist should initially have in their stores with a request to contact them when we returned to the office. I lost count of the number of JLM Drive magazines we handed out not to mention the desktop wheelie bins which were filled with sweets.”

Kalimex have already booked to attend Automechanika 2025. “It was an easy decision to make,” said Mike. “I am confident that sales will climb on the back of this year’s event. It remains a powerful marketing tool not least because it gives us the opportunity to have decent conversations with quality trade customers without the clock ticking. In today’s era where we tend to live behind screens, this is a real bonus and not one to be underestimated.”
