FAI Auto Parts puts the brakes on compromise with expanded programme

In today’s aftermarket, braking components are no longer viewed as a simple service replacement. Workshops and distributors alike expect dependable quality, comprehensive coverage and strong availability, particularly as the UK vehicle parc continues to age and vehicles stay on the road for longer.

Recognising this shift, FAI Auto Parts has significantly strengthened its braking portfolio with a fully developed programme covering brake discs, pads, calipers and wear leads, reinforcing the company’s growing position as a one-stop supplier for core workshop essentials.

The expanded range now exceeds 1,200 part numbers and delivers coverage for more than 34 million vehicles across the UK parc, equating to approximately 90% of vehicles currently on the road.

While FAI has previously operated within the braking category, the company’s latest investment marks a major step forward. What began as a focused, selective offering has evolved into a complete programme designed to support the everyday needs of independent garages and motor factors.

Peter Garrett, Head of Product & Marketing at FAI Auto Parts, explained: “The aim was never simply to create a large range for the sake of numbers. We wanted meaningful coverage that reflects the vehicles workshops are actually seeing every day. Cars are remaining in service longer than ever before, so demand for quality braking components continues to grow. Our programme has been developed to meet that demand with strong availability, OE-focused design and competitive value.”

The range itself has been engineered with both technicians and distributors in mind. Brake discs feature a protective coating for easier installation and improved corrosion resistance, while the semi-metallic pad formulation helps reduce copper content without compromising braking performance.

Alongside pads and discs, FAI has also introduced a complete surcharge-free caliper programme. Designed to deliver dependable performance and finished with a Zinc coating for added durability, the range includes popular applications for both traditional and electric parking brake systems, an increasingly important consideration as newer vehicle technologies filter into the independent aftermarket.

Packaging and presentation have also been carefully considered. Brake pads are vacuum sealed to protect against contamination and transport damage, while discs are supplied in durable cartons designed to withstand handling throughout the supply chain.

Importantly, the braking programme sits alongside FAI’s already well-established steering and suspension offering, as well as newer product groups including filtration and control cables. The strategy reflects a wider move by the company to strengthen availability across the high-frequency repair categories most commonly linked to MOT work and general vehicle maintenance.

Garrett added: “Quality and value had to go hand in hand. It’s a highly competitive sector, but workshops still want products they can trust and fit with confidence. That’s exactly what we’ve focused on delivering. We believe technicians will quickly place the braking range alongside our steering and suspension programme in terms of reliability and performance.”

As workshops continue to manage increasing repair demand on an ageing vehicle parc, suppliers capable of offering dependable coverage across key service categories are becoming more important than ever.

With strong UK parc coverage, practical engineering and continued investment in core aftermarket categories, FAI Auto Parts’ braking programme represents more than just a range extension; it signals a long-term commitment to supporting the independent aftermarket with reliable, competitively positioned braking solutions designed for everyday workshop demands.
