Aircon Service Bookings Soar In Record May Temperatures

Aircon service bookings soared in record May temperatures on the BookMyGarage platform as garages urged to prepare for another heatwave surge.

Aircon regas bookings saw a 17% uplift in May this year compared to the same month last year following the month’s unseasonably hot weather with temperatures in excess of 30 degrees. When analysing aircon service and regas bookings during May’s week of record-breaking temperatures (w/c 25 May 2026), appointments increased by more than two-and-a-half times – a massive 264% uplift week-on-week – compared to the previous week (18 May 2026).

The uplift coincided with a week of soaring heat when the UK broke its May temperature record twice in 48 hours. On Monday, 25 May, Kew Gardens recorded 34.8°C, surpassing the previous May record of 32.8°C set in 1922 and 1944, making it the hottest spring day on record in the UK but the next day, the record was broken again with Kew Gardens registering 35.1°C and Heathrow 35.0°C. After a period of unsettled cooler weather, temperatures started to climb again at the end of last week (w/e 19 June 2026) and over the weekend when some areas in the south and southeast of England reached the low 30s. Week commencing 22 nd June the mercury is expected to hit 33.0°C.

Chief marketing officer, Jessica Ruddick said: “Our experience both this year and last showed that whenever temperatures rise into the 30s, the garages on our platform receive a surge in aircon servicing and regas bookings. With temperatures this week expecting to climb once more, our garage partners and franchised workshops can expect even more bookings.

“With summer just around the corner, we think now is a great time for our partners to promote their aircon regas services to try and get ahead of any future heatwave curves. It’s also a great way to entice new customers into their garage who may well return for other services in the future. ”

In 2025, the BookMyGarage platform saw a spike in aircon service and regas bookings when temperatures hit 30-degree plus in June and July. In the first half of June as the weather warmed up, bookings through the platform for aircon services more than doubled by 220% week-on-week. When temperatures reached in excess of 30 degrees, bookings more than tripled rising by 381% from the beginning of June to the beginning of July. This coincided with the hottest day of the year recorded in the UK at 35.8°C on 1 July 2025.
