Launch UK & Ireland Expands Security Gateway Coverage

LAUNCH UK & IRELAND has announced the availability of a new Nissan Security Gateway (SGW) Unlocking Licence, giving independent workshops authorised access to SGW-protected Nissan and Infiniti vehicles using compatible LAUNCH diagnostic platforms.

As vehicle manufacturers continue to introduce Security Gateway technology to protect critical vehicle systems from unauthorised access, technicians increasingly require manufacturer-approved authentication before advanced diagnostic functions can be performed. Without authorised access, workshops can face restrictions when carrying out procedures such as fault diagnosis, service functions, coding and other advanced repair operations.

The addition of Nissan further strengthens LAUNCH’s Security Gateway offering, enabling workshops to access an expanding range of manufacturers through a simple, authorised process while helping future-proof their diagnostic capabilities as more OEMs adopt secure vehicle architectures.

Nissan has been implementing Security Gateway protection across selected models since 2019, with some of the UK’s most popular vehicles – including the Juke and Qashqai, alongside the Ariya, X-Trail, Pathfinder and Sentra – now requiring authorised access for full diagnostic functionality.

The new Nissan SGW Unlocking Licence builds on LAUNCH’s existing Security Gateway support for Volkswagen Audi Group (VAG), Mercedes-Benz and Renault/Dacia, enabling technicians to securely and legitimately unlock compatible Nissan and Infiniti vehicles through the LAUNCH SGW Portal.

Activation is straightforward. Workshops simply purchase a digital 12-month licence, register it via the LAUNCH SGW Portal and, following approval, the licence is typically activated within one to two working days. An active LAUNCH diagnostic software subscription is required. The licence is compatible with supported LAUNCH X-431 diagnostic platforms, including the X-431 EURO, and operates in conjunction with SmartLink and DBScar VII.

Jon Woolley, Sales & Marketing Director at LAUNCH UK & IRELAND, said:
“Security Gateway technology is rapidly becoming standard across the latest vehicle parc, making authorised access essential for today’s independent workshops. The addition of Nissan further expands the vehicle coverage available through LAUNCH, giving our customers the confidence to diagnose and service more vehicles without unnecessary delays or having to turn work away. As more manufacturers introduce secure vehicle architectures, we’re committed to providing workshops with the authorised tools and software they need to keep pace with evolving technology while maintaining productivity and profitability.”
