Cataclean celebrates 30 years of helping engines perform better

This month sees Liverpool-based additives brand, Cataclean, celebrate its 30thanniversary. Founded in 1995, Cataclean was developed in response to growing concerns about vehicle emissions, beginning with a mission to clean catalytic converters without removal. Today, it has evolved into an 8-in-1 fuel and exhaust system cleaner trusted around the world.

Cataclean has gone from strength to strength to become the market leader it is today, helping engines perform better, last longer and run cleaner. The company was established in Liverpool in 1995 by founders, Ross Baigent and Hugh Collins. Using scientific knowledge, expert consultants, technicians and innovation, Cataclean was created.

After further testing and perfecting its formula, Cataclean launched into the market as a complete fuel and exhaust system cleaner that does in one product what others take four or five products to achieve the same results.

Cataclean’s patented, flagship 8‑in‑1 formula cleans carbon from injectors, combustion chambers, catalytic converters, DPFs, EGR valves, oxygen sensors, fuel lines – even in motorcycles and garden machinery – with one easy-to-use, pour and go solution. It delivers up to 60 percent reduction in emissions, improves MPG and restores engine performance to reduce costly repairs and downtime.

Baigent commented: “As we celebrate 30 years, I’m immensely proud of what Cataclean has achieved. From humble beginnings to becoming trusted by garages, motorsport teams, retailers and motor factors worldwide, our mission remains the same: provide real-world, effective solutions for cleaner, more efficient engines and backed by integrity and performance.”

Cataclean entered the U.S. market in the early 2010s and has since expanded its distribution to over 30 countries across five continents, including Europe, North America, Asia, Australia, and most recently, South Africa. Despite its global footprint, Cataclean remains independently owned and headquartered in Liverpool.

William Jones, Sales Director at Cataclean, added: “Over the years Cataclean has evolved from a niche emissions tool into a comprehensive, 8‑in‑1 system cleaner that meets modern demands for sustainability and engine health. As we look ahead, we’re grateful for our loyal trade and retail partners who’ve helped build Cataclean into the household name it is today.”

Over the last three decades, Cataclean has aligned with key industry partners to showcase the brand to both consumer and trade audiences. This includes exhibiting at shows like Goodwood Festival of Speed, Autosport International and Automechanika Birmingham.

Plus, the company has supported the Kwik Fit-sponsored British Touring Car Championships (BTCC) for over eight years, including partnering with teams such as Team Dynamics, Ciceley Motorsport and its current team, NAPA Racing Team UK.

This activity also includes supporting multiple BTCC race-winner Dan Rowbottom since 2017. Rowbottom’s on and off-track drive and commercial thinking has been instrumental, leading him to become a key brand ambassador for Cataclean.

Rowbottom said: “Cataclean isn’t just a brand I work with – it’s a product I trust on and off the track. Performance and reliability are everything when it comes to vehicles, and Cataclean delivers both. It’s amazing to see the company reach 30 years, it’s a testament to their innovation, consistency and commitment to doing things right.”

Cataclean is widely available across the UK aftermarket via major distributors and retailers including Halfords, Euro Car Parts, Amazon, Motor Parts Direct, Alliance Automotive Group, GSF Car Parts, and service centres like Kwik Fit, where Cataclean is the official supplier of fuel and engine additives.

Baigent finished: “We’ve grown since our inception, but our focus hasn’t changed we want to continue to operate on integrity and offer products that work. We’d like to thank all of our partners, staff and customers for all of their support over the last three decades. Here’s to the next 30 years!”
