Delphi celebrates the power of collaboration through IAAF Garage Den project

Delphi is celebrating the success of its IAAF Garage Den collaboration with Shaikly Motors following an update on the project at the UK Garage and Bodyshop Event 2026, demonstrating how suppliers and workshops can work together to raise awareness of braking safety and the importance of fitting quality components.

Having been paired together during the first-ever IAAF Garage Den initiative, Delphi and Shaikly Motors have spent six months developing their relationship. The collaborative project is based around Delphi’s ‘Make Some Noise. Delphi – Built for Silence’ campaign, using the project as an opportunity to explore how the aftermarket can better communicate the value of premium braking components to both technicians and motorists.

The collaboration culminated at this year’s UK Garage & Bodyshop Event, where the project was showcased to the industry, highlighting how stronger partnerships between suppliers and workshops can help improve customer understanding of braking quality, friction materials and vehicle safety.

Aliya Lam, UK Country Director at Delphi, said: “The IAAF Garage Den has shown what’s possible when suppliers and workshops work together with a shared purpose. Rather than simply talking about products, we’ve been able to have meaningful conversations about braking safety, the importance of quality and how we can better educate both technicians and motorists.

“Through our Make Some Noise campaign, we’re encouraging the industry to look beyond price and understand the engineering that goes into premium braking components. Working alongside Mick and the team at Shaikly Motors has helped us shape that message through real workshop experience, ensuring it resonates with the people fitting and recommending these products every day.”

Throughout the project, Shaikly Motors has integrated Delphi braking products into its day-to-day workshop operations while taking advantage of Delphi’s technical support, product training and educational resources.

For Mick Shaikly, Director of Shaikly Motors, the project has delivered benefits that extend far beyond product selection.

He said: “We’ve built a really strong relationship with Delphi throughout the project. They’ve supported us with training, technical knowledge and helping us better understand the products we’re fitting.

“One of the biggest wins has been the confidence it’s given both our workshop and front-of-house teams. We now have a much better understanding of braking systems, friction materials and why quality really matters. That means we can explain the difference to customers with confidence, rather than simply saying it’s a premium brand because we recognise the name.”

Shaikly continued: “Our technicians have had no issues with the products, and the knowledge we’ve gained has changed the conversations we’re having every day. We’ve learnt how to identify quality, explain stopping distances and communicate why investing in premium braking components ultimately benefits driver safety. That’s been invaluable.”

The collaboration also reflects Delphi’s wider commitment to supporting workshops beyond supplying parts. Through the Delphi Academy, on-road Tech Van, Masters of Motion platform and dedicated technical support teams, Delphi continues to invest in helping technicians build their knowledge and confidence as vehicle technology evolves.

Lam added: “One of the biggest takeaways from the IAAF Garage Den project is that education has a vital role to play in improving road safety. Workshops are trusted advisors and by giving them the knowledge and confidence to explain why quality matters, we can help customers make more informed decisions about the components fitted to their vehicles.

“That’s exactly what Make Some Noise is all about. We want to start conversations across the industry about braking performance, friction materials and safety -because when it comes to braking, quality should never be compromised.”
