GYS announces the launch of EV Rescue, the first booster pack designed specifically for electric vehicles. It gives garages, recovery operators and fleets a safe way to revive an EV with a flat 12V battery, addressing a fault that is behind many more breakdowns than most people realise.
The small battery with a big job
There are now more than 2.1 million electric cars on UK roads (RAC, 2026), and the number continues to climb. Behind the headline range and charging figures is a detail that rarely gets mentioned: every EV still carries the same 12V battery found in a conventional petrol or diesel car.
It powers all the vehicle’s electronics, including ADAS systems, and it is what wakes the car up before the traction battery can do its work. According to ADAC, Europe’s largest motoring organisation, 50% of EV breakdowns are linked to the 12V battery, not the main drive battery.
When it fails, the vehicle can be left completely inoperable, unable to charge and, in some cases, unable to open its doors.
Why a traditional booster isn’t the answer
A conventional booster pack is designed to deliver a large surge of power to crank a heavy combustion engine. EVs have very different demands. They need a stable, regulated voltage to wake their systems safely, and a sudden surge can damage their complex, sensitive electronics. Traditional boosters are therefore not recommended for use on electric vehicles.
Introducing EV Rescue
EV Rescue delivers a strictly regulated 14V at 50A, giving the vehicle the controlled supply it needs to wake up safely. Once awake, the vehicle can be accessed, charged and recovered. It is also suitable for the 16V systems used in the latest Tesla Model 3 and Model Y.
EV Rescue is built with supercapacitor technology, so it contains no battery and requires no maintenance. Key benefits include:
Fast recharge: ready to use again in just 3 minutes
Long life: over 10,000 starts
Maintenance-free: no battery to degrade, replace or look after
One booster for almost every vehicle
EV Rescue is not limited to electric vehicles. It can also start ICE vehicles and all hybrids, making it a single solution for almost every 12V vehicle on the road. For garages, recovery operators and fleets, that means one tool in the van instead of two.
