BookMyGarage celebrates 10 years of growth

The UK’s leading comparison site for MOTs, servicing and repairs BookMyGarage, celebrates its tenth anniversary this year.

The anniversary follows its record year in 2025 when independent garages and franchised
workshops benefitted from a record £134 million of retail work booked via its platform.

The celebratory year is marked by the publication of the company’s first annual industry report where its extensive data set has been combed and a wide range of facts and figures shared. The report offers garage owners new insight into pricing trends, seasonal demand and the real return on investment of online bookings.

BookMyGarage was founded by husband-and-wife team, Douglas and Karen Rotberg, who still head up the business today. In 2018, the pair expanded the offering into the franchised sector with the launch of SecretService™, a strategic solution that has demonstrably helped franchise dealers win significant market share in the 4-year-old+ vehicle segment. The same year, the business was ranked 35 th in Syndicate Room’s top 100 fastest growing businesses in the UK. Since then, BookMyGarage has won several awards and formed a wide range of partnerships with a large portfolio of renowned leading companies. In 2022, 5 million drivers had compared prices to book their servicing, MOT & repairs on its platform and today, that figure is an impressive 26 million.

Douglas’ automotive career began as a RollsRoyce apprentice and he went on to run the biggest RollsRoyce and Bentley workshop in Europe. Karen’s entrepreneurial journey began as the original founder and managing director of Jobsite.com, which was later acquired by the Daily Mail.

Karen said: “Douglas and I have enjoyed successful careers – him in automotive and me as a serial entrepreneur – but it wasn’t until we combined our skills that BookMyGarage was born and it is this enterprise of which we are both most proud. BookMyGarage was built to make it easier for drivers to confidently choose great local garages while helping workshops grow through digital demand and ten years on, that mission hasn’t changed.

“We are also extremely proud of our team here at BookMyGarage – with some team members having been with us literally from the start and very much helped us build the business from scratch – bottom up. We are very much committed to steering the business through the next decade – as the aftermarket continues to change, we plan to expand our use of data and technology to help garages compete more effectively in an increasingly digital market. Here’s to the next 10 years.”

Our curated base is continually growing, where more than 3,000 garages are currently active on the platform. 57% of these highly engaged garages are on our popular Accelerate programme where we require them to adhere to strict SLA’s ensuring they meet our quality standards of workmanship. In a recent survey (Nov 2025), 79% of independent garage partners cited that bookings from BookMyGarage have a ‘significant’ impact on their business.

Many of these garages which signed up in the early days continue as BookMyGarage partners a decade later including Smile Servicing, Portsmouth; Williams Garage, Winchester; and J Petty Motors, Goole, East Yorkshire.

Co-owner Sarah Petty (J Petty Motors) said: “One of my first managerial decisions was signing up to BookMyGarage in the earliest days of the platform’s inception and ten years later, our business wouldn’t be at the point it is now without it.”

CEO Peter Whieldon (Williams Garage) said: “I feel like the BookMyGarage team are an extension of our business. They provide marketing support, advice and campaign delivery that you would expect from a specialist agency but without the price tag.”

Owner Nick Dray (Smile Servicing and Hares of Sussex) said: “It is very apparent that the BookMyGarage team has a genuine interest in how our business is performing. It’s a two-way relationship which enables us to achieve a higher turnover and ultimately increases our profit.”
