With the MotoGP season drawing to a close, Motul is celebrating its partner team, Prima Pramac Racing, making history in the top flight of two wheeled racing, by becoming the first independent team in the championship’s history to take the coveted Teams’ Championship, ahead of all of the Manufacturer’s factory teams.
Pramac, whose principle business is generators – for which Motul is also an OE supplier – has been competing in Moto GP as a team since 2001 and Motul has been its lubricant partner since 2021.
This year has been absolutely stellar for the team, with both Jorge Martin and Johann Zarco taking Moto GP victories, on their works-spec Ducati Desmosedici GP23 motorbikes. Jorge Martin took no less than four GP wins en route to runners-up slot in the championship, while Johann Zarco finally fulfilled the promise he has long shown, with victory in Indonesia. The team made it to the GP podium 15 times (and, in addition, also scored 9 Sprint victories and fourteen Sprint podiums) and ended up comfortably outscoring the Ducati factory team, to clinch the title with a race still to go. Martin himself also came within a whisker of being crowned World Champion, still being in with a chance of the title up to the very last race, before a retirement ended his title hopes. Prima Pramac Racing, was also Independent Teams’ Champion for the year.
“It is an incredible achievement,” enthuses Motul UK Sales and Marketing Manager, Andy Wait. “To take on the might of the Ducati factory team – as well as the manufacturer teams of Yahama, KTM and Aprilia – and come out on top, by some margin, is a testament to how well the team functions and Motul is extremely proud to be a technical partner to the team, providing the lubricants and fluids to Prima Pramac. Everyone at Motul wishes them huge congratulations on such an historic performance.”
Motul is also delighted to announce the renewal of its partnership with the Prima Pramac Racing Team, with a partnership agreement that has been extended for an additional three seasons, until the end of 2026. The three-year commitment includes an expanded presence on the team’s Ducati Desmosedici bikes, encompassing brand identity, communication, as well as marketing initiatives to engage with the enthusiast community who share Motul values.
The renewal of Motul’s partnership with Pramac is an important part of the vision for Motul’s future with its powersport division. Motul remains the UK’s number 1 motorcycle lubricant brand, with 2023 looking like it will be another strong year for the brand in the UK – a year which includes the launch of its NGEN, next step-forward, sustainable lubricant range.
Oliver Montange, President of the Board of Directors of Motul, comments, “It gives us immense pleasure to announce the renewal of our historic partnership with the Prima Pramac Racing team based on our shared values of excellence, competence and performance. This collaboration allows us to convey the high technological value of our products and promote a sense of belonging to a community of enthusiasts. MotoGP plays a fundamental role for Motul, acting not only as a visibility platform, but, above all, as a showcase of our DNA.”
Paolo Campinoti, CEO of Pramac and Team Principal of Prima Pramac Racing Team, declares: “It is a pleasure to announce the renewal of this strategic and solid partnership. We are excited to share the next few years with Motul with the same gratitude, passion and satisfaction as the last three years. The same satisfaction that we want to achieve in the next season. Motul unites our vision seeking constant growth in terms of professionalism and results.”
