The first of two REPXPERT 2CT training courses being held this autumn is already a sell-out, and with October entirely booked up technicians are being urged by Schaeffler to sign up now for November’s training event.
The motion technology company’s 2CT course being held on 2nd–3rdOctober at GSF Car Parts in Widnes, Cheshire is now full. However, places are still available for the session being held at The Tool Connection in Southam, Warwickshire on 26th–27th November.
“Our autumn REPXPERT 2CT training courses are proving to be very popular,” said Alistair Mason, Technical Services Manager at Schaeffler REPXPERT.
The two-day course combines theory and practical elements, and those who successfully complete the course are then able to perform VW double clutch system repairs.
Double clutch transmissions include two clutches, arranged on two drive shafts in a gearbox housing. Each sub-transmission functions like a manual transmission, with its own clutch. While driving, all gear changes are automatically controlled, with one of the two clutches operating the odd-numbered gears, while the other controls the even-numbers and reverse.
“This is a complex system,” said Alistair, “and some independent garages have been turning away 2CT jobs because they worry about getting it wrong. However, training is the answer, and our course gives technicians the knowledge needed to tackle these repairs with confidence.”
Day one of the IMI-approved course puts the focus on VW dry clutch systems before moving onto VW wet clutch systems on day two. Training covers clutch and mechatronics removal, gearbox disassembly, repairs solutions and reassembly, mechatronic repairs and common issues, before concluding with clutch operation, installation and set-up.
