Leading rotating electrics supplier, WAI Europe, has successfully advanced its IAAF Garage Den collaboration with Cleevely Motors, following the initial pitch and selection at the IAAF Annual Conference in December 2025.
The project culminated in a live showcase at the UK Garage and Bodyshop Event 2026. Building on strong collaboration between both organisations, WAI’s EV charging cables have now been successfully delivered and integrated across both the showroom and workshop facilities at Cleevely Motors in Cheltenham.
The chargers are already playing an active role in day-to-day operations, supporting both customer EV top-up charging and overnight charging of courtesy vehicles.
Communication between both teams has been a key strength throughout the project, ensuring smooth delivery and fast adoption on-site.
Managing Director of Cleevely Motors, Matt Cleevely, commented: “The WAI EV charging cables were successfully delivered to both the sales showroom and workshop at Cleevely Motors in Cheltenham and were integrated easily into our daily operations for giving top up charging for customer EVs – and for charging courtesy cars overnight.
“As a forward-thinking garage, we see so many EVs – so we can never have enough chargers, our techs are usually fighting over the same one, so it’s nice to have extras!”
WAI’s EV chargers include a diagnostic screen that tests vehicle current draw during charging tests, functioning as more than just a plug-and-play solution.
Cleevely added: “WAI is experiencing increased market demand for these chargers, which supports our mission to promote more EV adoption across independent workshops. With 55 percent of workshop work now electric, we’d like to continue the partnership with WAI to develop the chargers further – and create additional diagnostic chargers for the market.”
For WAI, the collaboration is already proving to be a catalyst for product development and deeper engagement with the independent workshop sector.
Marc Roder, International Sales Director at WAI, said: “The IAAF Garage Den project has given us a platform to develop and grow. WAI’s commitment to the sector has stemmed from inviting workshops to share their insight. Collaborating with Matt is such an exciting prospect for both parties and we’re looking forward to taking considerable strides in innovation within EV charging.”
