From a flat tyre to a flourishing partnership

Point S UK member, B & K Williams, has experienced growth since it joined the UK’s largest network of independent tyre dealers and auto repair centres.

A Point S UK member is proving that big opportunities can come from the smallest beginnings, after a single flat tyre led to a thriving business partnership and a fresh new look for a well-loved local garage.

B & K Williams, a family-run garage in Caernarfon, has been a part of the community for more than four decades. The garage’s journey into the Point S Tyre & Autocare network began unexpectedly, when owner Kevin Williams bought a car with a damaged tyre.

“I’d travelled to Shrewsbury to buy a car, and when I realised the tyre was faulty, I was pointed toward a local Point S centre,” Kevin recalls. “I ended up speaking with the owner, who told me about the benefits of being part of the network. I went home and got in touch – and here we are.” Three and a half years later, B & K Williams is not only part of the network, but is also growing steadily – investing in new diagnostic equipment and staff training.

“It’s still very much a family business,” says Kevin, who works alongside both his sons – one a technician, the other in an administrative role. “That’s what keeps us grounded. We’ve grown, but we’ve stayed true to who we are.”

The business – run on a day-to-day basis by manager, Paul Childes – now employs a team of seven technicians and serves a loyal and growing customer base. “The progress we’ve made recently is down to having a phenomenal team,” Kevin stresses. “Instrumental in this progress has been our manager, Paul.”

In addition to selling and fitting tyres, B & K also handles a full range of repairs and diagnostics. Now, the garage has completed a rebrand in partnership with Point S – featuring bilingual signage to reflect the area’s strong Welsh-speaking population.

“The new signage is getting our customers talking – they’re asking what Point S is, and that starts the conversation,” Kevin says. “It’s a fresh look, but what matters most is what’s behind the signage: a trusted service and local relationships.”

For Kevin, being part of the network has brought tangible benefits – from improved tyre and parts supply to marketing support and ongoing engagement with the wider Point S community. “We’re proof that there is real opportunity in the aftermarket,” he says. “Whether it’s investing in your team or growing your site, there’s space for independents to thrive. You just have to take the first step – even if it starts with a bad tyre.”
