Alliance Automotive Group (AAG) TechMate technician, Nigel Clement, shares his experience and highlights the brand’s flex fit installation system and superior performance of UniClutch in the NAPA Branded Ford Focus ST.
“My first impression of the UniClutch was the precise and detailed way it is boxed and presented,” says Clement. “On further inspection, I found the QR code system to be really unique as it shows the process and details of the clutch and fitting kit that is required to fit the product to the vehicle.”
UniClutch takes pride in providing fitment kits which are available for every clutch, ensuring quick and easy installation for technicians. Clement adds: “The instructions were simple to understand, explaining how to measure the original clutch in order to get the correct ride height for the new clutch, which is set by using the correct listed spacers. I found the fitting instructions really straightforward to use and they allowed me to set this up really quickly, including choosing the correct input shaft adapter.”
UniClutch’s revolutionary Flex Fit system allows for installation on virtually any vehicle. The modular system uses a flywheel mount and an interchangeable input shaft spline that can be made to suit 90% of vehicles on the road, even if the vehicle has a non-standard engine and/or manual transmission.
The comprehensive installation guide from UniClutch goes beyond basic instructions. Clement was particularly impressed with the detailed guidance on using the correct lock tight and tightening torque. “Also, as the flywheel was still serviceable, the UniClutch easily fitted the existing flywheel. This was explained in the fitting instructions to align up the dowels with the ring plate, for ease of fitting,” he notes.
Post-installation, Clement conducted a road test on the NAPA branded Ford Focus ST and found the performance of the UniClutch to be exceptional. “The pedal felt better than the original equipment (OE) version that had been removed and drove smoothly, but I was also able to apply power from the engine cleanly with the confidence of the twin plate system,” he concludes.
